Perseus and Medusa

In Greek mythology, Perseus was sent on a quest to slay Medusa, a Gorgon whose gaze could turn anyone who looked directly at her to stone. With the help of the gods, he received a reflective shield and used it to approach her without meeting her eyes. Guided by her reflection, Perseus beheaded Medusa, overcoming a creature whose power made her feared by all.

These two artworks depict the opposing figures at the heart of this ancient myth: Perseus, the hero who conquered the impossible, and Medusa, the Gorgon whose gaze became both her curse and her weapon. Together, they bring to life a story of divine intervention, courage, and the fatal encounter between hunter and hunted.
